Dixie Locke Emmons
Dixie Locke Emmons (August 29, 1938 - December 19, 2023) She was Elvis Presley's first girlfriend. Elvis and Dixie were together from January 1954 to May 1956 around Dixie’s high school graduation. They met in Memphis at the First Assembly of God Church and their first dates took me place at the Rainbow Rollerdome Skating Ring. Dixie was born in the south and raised in Memphis, therefore Elvis and Dixie shared a lot of the same southern values, ...beliefs, traditions and struggles. Elvis attended Dixie’s Southside High School prom on May 6, 1955. Dixie met and was around Elvis’ mother Gladys Presley, and she was in Elvis’ life when he recorded “Thats Alright,” at Sun Records on July 5, 1954. January 24, 1954: Elvis and Dixie Locke were at the same place at the same time. They had not officially met yet. Dixie saw Elvis and at that moment she made plans with a friend to go roller-skating on Saturday night, making sure that Elvis overheard her conversation. February 16, 1954: Elvis brought his girlfriend Dixie Locke home to meet his parents Vernon and Gladys. Elvis and Dixie had barely known each other for two weeks. Dixie’s 2021 memoir is titled “Unlocked: Memoirs of Elvis's First Girlfriend.” There are sweet and innocent stories in the book, and the book gives great insight into who Elvis was during that time period and Elvis early days of touring.
