
Ahmed Khalil Ali
Ahmed Khalil Ali is an award-winning Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter. Born in 1999 in Alexandria, he graduated from the High Cinema Institute in Alexandria as part of its first graduating class (2019-2023). Ahmed has gained recognition for his work in independent cinema, earning multiple awards for his directing. His short documentary A Very Abnoxious Thing won the Jury Award at the 7th Manssat Film Festival, received a special mention at th...e Femto Art International Student Film Festival, and was screened at the Seattle Arab Film Festival and on the Aflamuna platform in collaboration with Beirut DC. His short film Bird Trap won the Best Director award at the Youth Empowerment Competition by Mentor Arabia and was officially selected for the 14th Luxor African Film Festival’s Student Competition. Ahmed’s debut film, A Rainy Spring, was screened at multiple international festivals, including the Alexandria International Short Film Festival, the Hollywood Arab Film Festival, and the Visions Egyptian Short Film Festival at the American University in Cairo. As the co-founder of Handy Cam Films, Ahmed continues to explore new artistic and production methods in independent filmmaking. His work is known for its poetic and introspective storytelling, solidifying him as a rising voice in contemporary Egyptian cinema.
