Mark Kincey - Double Feature

Mark Kincey

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Mark was always interested in visual mediums from an early age coming from great influences from his parents with a strong incentive of films and photography. Before he started making and participating in short films, Mark was more focused on photography. He started making short films in high school in Brazil, first as a cinematographer and a gaffer with one of his closest friends from high school, Eduardo Machado, who... wrote and directed Modulation (2019). The first of many collaborations between the two. A year later, Mark, participated in a short film with another close friend, this time, Flora Serra, who wrote and directed Astro (2020) an English sci-fi short that was selected for the 10th annual Cinefantasy that same year. In the subsequent year, Mark's next short film was with another close friend from high school, Luiz Felipe Aranha, who also collaborated as a cinematographer in Astro with Mark, wrote and directed Acho Que Estou Ficando Velha (2021), a Portuguese short which depicts a generation clash of an elderly woman and her youthful grandson. In 2021, Eduardo Machado decided to direct his last short film before leaving São Paulo with the gang. In it, the short is a time capsule with improvised lines and impeccable original songs from Flying Kites and Flight Project, both of Eduardo's bands. Mark, however, was not a cinematographer but an actor. In August of 2021, Kincey left Brazil to pursue an education in Canada, at the University of New Brunswick. Since his time there, he has directed, edited and produced a short film, I'll Be Watching You (2022), a spooky horror short that blends Kincey's visuals from photography with storytelling. The short was written, produced, shot and edited in a week and a half. In 2023, Mark participated as a cinematographer in an upcoming film, The Dream (2023) which was directed by Michelle Allard, assisted by Cecilia Hooper, and acted by Nathan Furlotte. Mark, however, collaborated with Ronald Olufemi, the cinematographer from I'll Be Watching You (2022). This upcoming film was shot in one day with a Bolex camera. Mark has a YouTube channel with his previous works.
