
Federico Barni
Federico is an Italian-British filmmaker based in London. His work is influenced by his biology and anthropology studies at UCL and often evokes science fictional, unsettling versions of reality. After moving into filmmaking by completing a documentary course at Imperial College, he went on to make a series of films that screened at international film festivals including Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs, Torino Film Festival, DocLisboa, London and ...Glasgow Short Film Festival, Frameline and others. Federico’s feature project Enclave, a sci-fi horror about the evolution of a new species, was one the winners of the MFN In Progress Lab in 2022 and one of the five finalist projects developed in the BFI-sponsored UK Next Wave Genre Lab. Federico’s films and collaborations with artists and musicians have also been shown in galleries and institutions including the South London Gallery, Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Cryptic Glasgow, Wilhelm Hack Museum and on platforms such as Nowness and FACT. He also has years of experience editing documentary, fashion and art films.
