The story opens at a boarding school, where two of the lady students become inseparable companions. Six years later, Edith, one of the ladies, is wedded to the proprietor of the school of fencing, while the other, Yvonne, is studying for a singer's career. Six months later,the singer who has made a great impression, tires of her career, and makers her home with Edith and her husband. Yvonne later on falls a victim to temptation, and an illicit love henceforward exists between the pair. The tragic story ends in a duel between Edith and Yvonne, in which the former is fatally wounded.
